Minister Grabar-Kitarović held opening presentation at Symposium on Humanitarian Demining as Export Product, held in Zagreb

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović held on 10 July 2007 the opening presentation at the Symposium on Humanitarian Demining as an Export Product, held in Zagreb

The Symposium was intended for Croatian ambassadors accredited to mine-polluted countries that are of interest to the Croatian companies and the Croatian Mine Action Center in view of exporting mine action products and services.

In her opening presentation, Minister Grabar-Kitarović said that Croatia, having the unfortunate to be faced with the complex issue of mines, has developed its own exceptional knowledge and experience in mine action, reaching a high level of organisational, technical, technological, and personnel achievements that have been recognised internationally. Croatia, recently primarily a recipient of various sorts of development assistance, has transformed into a country that is offering assistance to other countries, pointed out Minister Grabar-Kitarović.

Presentations were also held by Assistant Minister for International Economic Co-operation Andrea Gustović Ercegovac and Director of the Agency for the Promotion Export and Investment Slobodan Mikac.

Later in the Symposium, the participants visited the Croatian Mine Action Center (HCR) in Sisak, where HCR Director Oto Jungwirth held a presentation of the Center’s activities thus far.

The MFAEI, in co-operation with HCR and the Agency for the Promotion Export and Investment, is reviewing the possible forms of activities of the Croatian diplomatic-consular offices in offering field assistance during export and marketing Croatian technology and knowledge in humanitarian demining.
