In his letter, Minister Jandroković expressed his deepest condolences over the tragic earthquake which claimed the lives of many Haitian citizens, on behalf of himself and the citizens of the Republic of Croatia.

Immediately after receiving news about the earthquake, we have contacted our diplomatic-consular network in order to find out whether there had been any Croatian citizens among the victims.

There were two Croatian policemen and one civilian on Haiti as part of the UN peacekeeping mission, as well as a family of four. We have been able to get in contact with them and can confirm they are alive and well.

We have also learned there is another Croatian citizen in the earthquake-stricken area, but due to communication breakdown, he cannot be reached.
