Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković received on 25 February 2008 Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Adrian Cioroianu

The two ministers reviewed the overall bilateral relations, describing them as very good and friendly, with no outstanding issues, and with possibilities for further development on all levels, especially in economy. They expressed satisfaction with the excellent co-operation in the multilateral field, especially within the South-East European Co-operation Process (SEECP).

Ministers Jandroković and Cioroianu talked about Croatia’s accession to the Euro-Atlantic integration, namely in light of the pending NATO Summit in Bucharest. Minister Jandroković thanked Romania for its supports in the realisation of Croatia’s NATO membership, emphasizing Croatia’s readiness and expectation to receive the membership invitation at the Bucharest Summit in April.

As regards Croatia’s EU membership, Minister Jandroković informed his counterpart about the progress of Croatia’s accession negotiations, confirming Croatia’s strong dedication to conducting comprehensive reforms and meeting the assumed obligations.

The two ministers also exchanged opinions about the current events in South Eastern Europe, pointing out the importance of establishing lasting peace and sustainable security and stability in the region. At the same time, they expressed their conviction that further Euro-Atlantic perspective represents the best framework for solving the rest of the outstanding issues in South Eastern Europe.
