Minister Jandroković wished Ambassador Fischer welcome, familiarizing him in short with Croatia’s foreign-policy priorities and the current situation in the process of joining the Euro-Atlantic structures.

Croatia is convinced that it would participate in NATO’s Strasbourg/Kehl Summit as its full-fledged member, said Minister Jandroković. In regard to Croatia’s EU negotiations, Minister Jandroković said he would continue with the talks with Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Žbogar and EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn. He reiterated Croatia’s position on the need to separate the bilateral border issue from the negotiations process, as well as the necessity for their unblocking.

Ambassador Fischer expressed understanding for Croatia’s views and offered Germany’s assistance in the EU accession process, namely in the transfer of the experience with using the Union’s funds. He said he hopes to create the preconditions during his ambassadorial mandate for the German language to be taught to a larger extent in the Croatian schools.
