After he welcomed his colleague and the first Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs on the visit to the Republic of Croatia, Minister Jandroković expressed satisfaction with the current state of the political relations between the two countries, which he described as very good and friendly, with the tendency of further improvement. He said that the Republic of Croatia was prepared to take these relations to a new, higher level, and he expressed hope that the visit of Minister Liberman would definitely have an important role in this, as well as the visits of high Croatian officials planned by the end of 2009. They both agreed that the economic cooperation was disproportionate to political, and it was without a doubt a field where the two states could vastly improve mutual relations. Minister Jandroković briefly informed his guest about the current economic situation in the Republic of Croatia and the potential qualitative advantages that could attract the Israeli capital. They also expressed their wish to intensify cultural and scientific cooperation.

The ministers informed one another in detail about the views of their states concerning the situation in their respective regions, and on the multilateral plan they underlined the very good relations and cooperation of the two states on the United Nations Security Council. Minister Jandroković put special focus on the recently adopted decision of the Republic of Slovenia to unblock Croatia’s accession negotiations with the European Union, and he informed his collocutor about the remaining obligations of the Republic of Croatia in accordance with the European Commission’s Indicative Timetable. Minister Liberman informed him about the position of the Israeli Government and support to Croatia’s membership of the European Union, and he congratulated Croatia on becoming a permanent member of NATO.
