Minister Jandroković said that the visit by Minister Spindelegger and the delegation composed of numerous Austrian MPs was yet another confirmation of Austria’s continuous support for Croatia, especially within the European Parliament.

Minister Jandroković informed Minister Spindelegger about the corner Croatia had turned in its EU talks – the opening of the last three chapters, with two thirds of the chapters having already been temporarily closed. He expressed conviction in the further progress at the next Intergovernmental Conference on Croatia’s EU Accession, pointing out that Croatia had fulfilled the criteria required for the closing of the remaining chapters. However, said the minister, Croatia is still systematically implementing reforms and taking action in regard to combating corruption and a full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal.

Minister Spindelegger said that Austria was strongly supporting Croatia’s efforts towards joining the EU and advocates a soon completion of the negotiation process, adding that he was convinced Croatia would become the 28th EU members, which would contribute to the strengthening of the political stability in South Eastern Europe.
