Minister Jandroković and Speaker Topalli expressed satisfaction with the very good and friendly relations between Croatia and Albania, expressing wish for the continuation of the regional cooperation and mutual understanding development

Minister Jandroković and Speaker Topalli expressed satisfaction with the very good and friendly relations between Croatia and Albania, expressing wish for the continuation of the regional cooperation and mutual understanding development. In that regard, the collocutors welcomed the strengthening of the two countries’ parliamentary cooperation, which has yielded good results as regards the ratification of the Protocol on Croatia and Albania’s NATO accession.

Concerning the ratification itself, Minister Jandroković said it had been completed in all of the member countries’ parliaments, and that he believed Croatia and Albania would attend the April NATO Summit in Strasbourg and Kehl as NATO’s full members.

Minister Jandroković and also pointed out the very good cooperation between Croatia and Albania within the US-Adriatic Charter, with Croatia considering Albania’s action plan during its presidency in the first half of 2009 as very useful.

Regarding the course of the EU negotiations, Minister Jandroković reiterated Croatia’s determination to follow the set dynamic of fulfilling the remaining obligations within the foreseen deadlines, so that it could close the negotiations by end-2009. He also expressed Croatia’s willingness to assist Albania along its European path with its experience and knowledge gained during the negotiating process, which Speaker Topalli thanked for.
