Apart from the political importance of this visit, Minister Jandroković pointed out its economic significance as well, as tomorrow will see a round table with the London City businessmen and a meeting with a group of British businessmen, on which occasion possibilities of investing in Croatia will be presented together with the information about the legal framework and investment potentials.

Since Croatia is a NATO and a future EU member, it is necessary to further strengthen the cooperation on all levels, agreed the collocutors. Minister Jandroković pointed out that Croatia’s national legislature was harmonized with that of the EU, which should present additional incentive and encouragement for the British businessmen who wish to invest in Croatia.

State Minister Prisk remarked on the British procedure of launching business operations, which is one of the most efficient in Europe, and expressed willingness to transfer these experiences to Croatia. The meeting also discussed the ways of motivating and stimulating small- and middle-sized entrepreneurship.

Expressing satisfaction with the recent British-Croatian Business Forum in Zadar, which had seen the participation of 26 British companies interested in doing business with Croatian partners, after which business meetings had taken place, Minister Jandroković also pointed out other areas with additional possibilities for doing business.

The UK is 12th in the overall investments in Croatia, with investments from 1993 to 2010 totalling € 421 million, while Croatian investments in the same period reached € 46 million, which makes the UK 13th in Croatia’s overall investments.
