The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Croatia and the Czech Republic.

Minister Jandroković thanked Minister Schwarzenberg for the support and assistance the Czech Republic was offering Croatia along its way to full-fledged EU membership. In that regard, he informed him about the current status of the accession negotiations, pointing out that Croatia intended to close all the chapters and sign the Treaty of Accession in the first half of the following year, during Hungary’s EU presidency.

Expressing conviction in further progress at the next Intergovernmental Accession Conference, to be held early November, he said that special attention would be paid to the judicial and public administration reforms, combating corruption, and the reconstruction of the shipbuilding sector.

The collocutors also exchanged opinions about the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, with special emphasis on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the results of the recently-held parliamentary elections. They agreed that the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the other countries of South Eastern Europe was the best guarantee of achieving lasting peace and stability.

Discussing the economic cooperation, the collocutors pointed out numerous possibilities for its enhancement, namely in the areas of energy and tourism.

The meeting also touched upon Croatia’s participation in ISAF, KFOR, as well as the to countries’ cooperation within NATO.
