Minister Gordan Jandroković attended meeting with EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn and Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Žbogar in Brussels

On that occasion, the European Commission presented a draft of its new compromise proposal for the solution of the Croatian-Slovenian borders dispute and Slovenia’s blockade, on which a preliminary discussion was held. It was agreed that both sides would respond shortly.

Commissioner Rehn will inform the EU Presidency about the state of the negotiations and consult with the EU members’ foreign ministers at the forthcoming informal ministerial meeting on 27 and 28 March in the Czech Republic.

It is the Commission’s intention to simultaneously facilitate the finding of a solution to the border issue and unblock Croatia’s EU negotiations, so that Croatia could complete their technical part by end-2009.
