(Hina) - The Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Ministry on Thursday sent a diplomatic note to the Slovenian government informing it that following Slovenia's violations of the arbitration agreement, conditions had been created to terminate the arbitration deal.

"The Republic of Croatia today notified the Republic of Slovenia that conditions have been created to terminate the arbitration agreement between the government of Croatia and the government of Slovenia, over severe violations of the arbitration agreement, committed by the Republic of Slovenia, and in accordance with regulations of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties between States," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

"In the note, Croatia has highlighted the violations Slovenia had committed and because of which the purpose and the subject of the arbitration agreement cannot be fulfilled," the foreign ministry said.

Earlier on Thursday, the Croatian government launched a procedure to terminate the arbitration agreement with Slovenia because of a violation of the agreement by Slovenia.

The move followed a unanimous decision of the Croatian parliament adopted to that effect on Wednesday.
