MFAEI welcomes the fact that the European Parliament recognised in its resolution Croatia’s progress in meeting the conditions for a full EU membership

The European Parliament adopted today the resolution pursuant to the report by Elmar Brok, Chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, on the European Commission’s strategic enlargement document, in which it also commented on the European perspective of the South East European countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration especially welcomes the fact that Croatia, as a country that has opened the membership negotiations with the EU, was given a special chapter in the resolution, and that the European Parliament welcomes the opening of the accession negotiations with Croatia. The Republic of Croatia also wishes to express great satisfaction over the fact that the European Parliament has recognised its progress in meeting all of the conditions for a full EU membership, especially political and economic, and Croatia’s readiness to strengthen the regional co-operation.

The Republic of Croatia welcomes all of the initiatives confirming the European perspective of the SEE countries and those directed towards the political stabilisation and economic development of SEE. It was precisely on Croatia’s initiative that the EU has adopted the CEFTA model of the economic regional co-operation and preparation for involvement in the EU inner market.

Croatia will use its pending presidency over the SEE Co-operation Process to further promote the European perspective of all SEE countries and their linkage with the EU.
