Professor Michta outlined his view of transatlantic security relations, as well as the current challenges facing NATO and the US. The framework for the discussion was the drawing up of NATO’s new Strategic Concept, whereby the Croatian diplomats talked with the American scientist about the Alliance’s enlargement, its operations, relations with Russia and other partnership countries, the United States’ foreign and security policy, and NATO’s transformation.

The discussion concluded that Croatia, by participating in the drafting of the new Strategic Concept, has a unique opportunity right at the beginning of its NATO membership to contribute to its forming and the confirmation of its contemporary political goals, including the topics of Croatia’s strategic interest.
