The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, together with the world’s democratic public, follows with a great concern the recent development of events regarding PDR Korea’s nuclear test and shares the international community’s concern over the security deterioration on the Korean peninsula and the wider region.

Testing nuclear weapons represents a serious threat to the peace and security in Asia and the world. The MFAEI advocates a prompt easing of the tensions and Korea’s return to the six-part negotiations for the purposes of finding a permanent political solution.

The MFAEI wholly supports the positions expressed in the EU Presidency’s press release from 9 October 2006.
