MFAEI co-organised International Gastro-Tourism Fair GAST 2008

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration co-organised the International Gastro-Tourism Fair GAST 2008, which opened on 5 March 2008 in Split

On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković, the welcoming speech was held at the opening by Assistant Minister at the Directorate for International Economic Co-operation Andrea Gustović Ercegovac. She pointed out that the Ministry has recognised the importance of GAST 2008 for the development of the Croatian economy, adding that the Fair is an opportunity for Croatia to present the elements of its cultural, economic and tourist offer. Also, the GAST around the World project is an attempt to promote Croatia’s tourism potential, culture, customs, as well as gastronomic products and services, and link Croatia business-wise with companies and institutions from the 21 Fair participant countries.

GAST 2008 is held under the auspices of Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, the Ministry of Tourism, Splitsko-dalmatinska County, and the City of Split. It is being held for the 13th time and is becoming an inevitable companion of the progress in the region, said Assistant Minister Gustović Ercegovac. Welcoming speeches were also held by emissary of the Croatian President, Splitsko-dalmatinska County Head Ante Sanader, emissary of the Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Forestry and Water Management Petar Čobanković, as well as the authority representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina as the partnership country.

Assistant Minister Gustović Ercegovac took the opportunity to announce the 6th session of the Diplomatic-Economic Club, to be held on 6 March 2009 as a part of GAST 2008, adding that said manifestation is traditionally organised by the Ministry for the diplomatic representatives accredited to Croatia in order to provide them with information on economic co-operation with the Croatian partners.
