On 15 January 2003, Ambassador Neven Madey, permanent representative of the Republic of Croatia to the Council of Europe, transmitted ratification documents of two important European Conventions (Convention on Combatting Terrorism and Convention on European Landscape) to Mr. Water Schwinner, Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Thus, Croatia became the a party to 57 European conventions, agreements of additional protocols of the Council of Europe.
The Convention on Combating Terrorism, ratified by 38 Member States of the Council of Europe, is aimed at facilitating the extradition of perpetrators of terrorists acts.
The Convention on European Landscape is to give incentive to governments at local, regional and national level to implement protection policy and measures for the use, arrangement and planing of landscape in Europe.
