First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić 23 July met with Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, the British Minister of State for Trade and Investment.

Pusić and Green discussed the advancement of legal framework and the wider social changes necessary for attracting high-quality direct foreign investment and developing export-oriented enterprises. Green confirmed there was a growing interest among British businessmen in investing in Croatia following its EU entry and underlined the need for a better communication about investment opportunities with the interested parties. Pusić and Green also exchanged views on the current economic situation in the EU and single market reforms.

Lord Green held separate talks with Deputy Minister Joško Klisović.

Klisović informed Green about the setting up of a new economic diplomacy system, to be revealed to the public this fall. The two officials exchanged ideas about what makes a functional and advanced economic diplomacy system such as the British one, oriented towards efficient coordination among the competent bodies, a proactive and business-minded diplomatic network and tight cooperation with domestic exporters. Green voiced full support for this important reform process, offering intensification of the already begun transfer of British know-how and experience in the area.
