Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 23 July received the outgoing ambassadors of Finland, Sweden and Slovakia

Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 23 July received the outgoing ambassadors of Finland, Sweden and Slovakia.

Klisović thanked Finnish Ambassador Juha Ottman for the support Finland had been showing Croatia during its EU accession, concretized through 15 twinning projects in various areas of cooperation. Ottman was hopeful that the intensive cooperation between Croatia and Finland would continue within the EU bodies as well.

Thanking Swedish Ambassador Fredrik Vahlquist for his personal engagement in promoting bilateral relations between Croatia and Sweden during his term of office, Klisović expressed satisfaction with the two countries’ excellent political relations. Vahlquist pointed out the numerous high-level visits, notably the visit by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to Croatia in April this year.

Slovak Ambassador Roman Supek expressed satisfaction with the intensive cooperation between Croatia and Slovakia, hopeful that the economic cooperation would follow suit, especially now that Croatia had joined the EU. The two officials stressed the importance of economic diplomacy as an instrument of strengthening economic cooperation and attracting foreign investments. The importance both countries place on this issue is evident in the recently held consultations between the Croatian and Slovak ministries of foreign affairs, when economic diplomacy was one of the main topics. Klisović and Supek agreed that the respective national minorities had greatly contributed to the development of excellent bilateral relations.
