(Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić and Zagreb University Rector Damir Boras on Wednesday opened an international postgraduate course called "Diplomacy", designed for people interested in international relations and diplomacy and for those working in international corporations, bilateral and multilateral initiatives and non-governmental organisations.

The English-language course begins on Thursday and has 20 Croatian students and nine from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Morocco.

Pusić said that those with experience in studying abroad knew that this was a way to promote one's own country.

"This is a very useful instrument in international relations and diplomacy. It builds and establishes good long-term ties between states, governments, cultures and people," she said at a ceremony at Zagreb's Law School.

The course will contribute to Croatia's recognisability and the big players on the political scene often adopt important decisions based on a country's image and their view of a country, Pusić said.

The three-semester course will be taught by Zagreb University professors and experts from other academic institutions and diplomats.
