Informal meeting of SEECP Political Directors’ Committee held 13 December 2007 in Bansko, Bulgaria

Informal meeting of the SEECP Committee of Political Directors was held under Bulgaria’s chairmanship on 13 December 2007 in Bansko, the Republic of Bulgaria. Croatia was represented by National SEECP Co-ordinator and Assistant Minister for International Economic Co-operation Andrea Gustović Ercegovac. Also participating in the meeting was Hido Biščević, State Secretary for Political Affairs and Appointed Secretary General of the Regional Co-operation Council (RCC)

The meeting reviewed the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, with a special emphasis on the current state of Kosovo negotiations. He participants commended the progress Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have made in relations with the EU through the Stabilisation and Association Process, as well as the work on setting up the RCC and its Secretariat in Sarajevo. Bulgaria also informed the participants about the forthcoming activities as a part of its SEECP presidency.

On 14 December 2007, after the political directors’ meeting, a seminar entitled “Regional Co-operation – Opportunities, Challenges, Synergy” was held, which saw the participation of Assistant Minister for the European Union and European Co-operation Neven Pelicarić. The seminar discussed the possibility of enhancing the regional co-operation in South Eastern Europe, with a special emphasis on co-ordinating various regional organisations and initiatives. It especially pointed out the importance of co-operating with the European Commission in drawing up and realising the projects of regional importance, which contributed to the European integration processes of the countries of South Eastern Europe.
