Working meetings on co-operation between delegations of MFAEI and German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development
On 18 and 19 December 2007 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, working meetings on co-operation were held between the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia and the delegation of the Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, aimed at stimulating development in 2007 and the following years
The Croatian delegation was led by Spomenka Cek, Head of the Department for Multilateral Economic Relations, while the German delegation was led by Leo Kreuz, in charge of the co-operation with the countries of South Eastern Europe, Turkey, and Iran. The meetings positively evaluated the co-operation so far and agreed that the bilateral co-operation should be directed at implementing economic reforms, creating market economy, stimulating small- and middle-sized entrepreneurships, and building communal infrastructure.
In 2007, Croatia allocated € 1.5 mil. for bilateral co-operation. Both sides agreed that the means should be spent on the existing projects: Reform of the Vocational Education System and Integrated Coastal Area Management. The German side also reported on the existence of regional funds for foreign trade counselling (€ 2 mil.), legal counselling, (€ 2.5 mil.) and communal services modernisation (€ 2.5 mil.), as well as the Regional and Study Professional Fund (€ 2 mil.), which can also be used by the Republic of Croatia.
