Hido Bišćević appointed EU ambassador to Tajikistan

Croatian diplomat Hidajet Bišćević has been officially appointed head of the European Union Delegation to Tajikistan, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton announced on Thursday

Croatian diplomat Hidajet Bišćević has been officially appointed head of the European Union Delegation to Tajikistan, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton announced on Thursday. Ashton also appointed Joaquin Gonzalez-Ducay as head of the EU Delegation to Senegal.

Bišević served as a Croatian ambassador to Turkey, and later to the Russian Federation. From 2003-2007 he was the state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and from 2007-2012 the secretary-general of the Regional Cooperation Council.

Ashton said at the ceremony that she was “extremely pleased to announce the appointment of these two excellent candidates. Their talent and expertise are valuable assets to the EU foreign service and I am looking forward to working with them at their new posts.”
