Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Malta, met today, 20 July 2004, in La Valletta, with Malta’s Foreign Minister Michael Frendo
Minister Fredo congratulated Croatia on receiving the candidate status and the setting of the date for the start of the negotiations with the EU, and offered to share Malta’s experiences, which became a full EU member in May this year.
Both sides described bilateral relations between the two countries as excellent, with no open issues. Co-operation based on mutual Mediterranean affiliation was also agreed upon, as well as the continuation of negotiations and the signing of bilateral agreements for the purposes of strengthening the mutual relations, especially co-operation in tourism and economy. Minister Žužul and Minister Frendo also discussed the co-operation between Croatian and Maltese diplomatic academies, especially in the field of economic diplomacy.
Minister Žužul invited Minister Frendo to visit Croatia, which he accepted.
