Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić is to pay a working visit to Croatia 20 March, during which he will meet with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić.

Croatia and Montenegro maintain very good bilateral relations, both political and economic, with 20 or so Croatian companies operating in Montenegro.

Montenegro has launched EU talks in June 2012 and has so far temporarily opened seven chapters, of which two have been temporarily closed. Croatia has been steadily supporting Montenegro’s European integration and in June 2012 the two countries signed the Agreement on Euro-Atlantic Partnership.

Croatia officially recognized Montenegro (after a referendum on independence) 12 June 2006 and established diplomatic relations with it 7 June the same year. There are approximately 4500 Montenegrins living in Croatia and around 6000 Croats living in Montenegro.
