Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić 18 July 2012 received the incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Croatia, H. E. Yean Yoke Heng

The two officials highlighted the very good political relations between Croatia and Malaysia, and voiced interest in intensifying the economic cooperation.

The Malaysian ambassador was hopeful that Croatia’s EU accession would mean the advancement its bilateral cooperation with Malaysia, especially because his country was about to close the talks on signing the EU treaty. He said Malaysia also saw the potential for cooperation in tourism and sports, as it was renowned for its ecotourism, medical travel, gastronomy and golf courses.

Pusić underscored the necessity of further strengthening the economic cooperation, the basis for which is creating a more positive investment climate in Croatia through simplifying the conditions for foreign investment, which is one of the government’s priorities. She emphasized that after completing the negotiations and joining the EU, Croatia was ready to turn more towards Asian and Pacific states, especially in terms of economy.
