FMs Stier, Bushati reaffirm good Croatia-Albania ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Davor Ivo Stier 9 February 2017 met with Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati, who was on a two-day official visit to Croatia.

Stier and Bushati talked about the modalities of advancing bilateral cooperation, cooperation within international institutions and, notably, Albania’s EU integration path. The two countries’ cooperation will intensify in the coming period through regular political consultations and the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation. In addition to his counterpart Stier, Bushati also held talks with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Parliament Speaker Božo Petrov, and attended the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Albania in Varaždin. Stier and Bushati, along with their Montenegrin colleague Darmanović, will attend the first meeting of the Adriatic Trilateral Croatia-Albania-Montenegro, scheduled for 10 February in Split. The initiative is launched is a new format of cooperation among the three countries in political dialogue, international security, Euro-Atlantic integration, economic affairs and environmental protection, with a special emphasis on the Adriatic. The fact that the Trilateral rest on the well-developed bilateral ties among the respective countries will also serve as a platform for strengthening interstate cooperation in tourism, transport and infrastructure in Southeast Europe.
