Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 5 September 2018 in Banja Luka attended an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) member states.

This was the first meeting during Bosnia and Herzegovina’s SEECP chairmanship, lasting from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019. It was hosted by Bosnian Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak.

The meeting saw Bosnia and Herzegovina presenting its chairmanship priorities, at the top of which is support for the European path of Southeast European countries. Another such priority is interconnectivity in all its forms – from infrastructural and digital to economic, security and human.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina’s priorities represent a continuity of joint efforts by all SEECP member states to bolster regional stability, security, good-neighbourly relations and progress,” said Pejčinović Burić in her address.

She welcomed Bosnian SEECP chairmanship’s focus on Southeast Europe’s European journey, highlighting progress in the relations between Southeast European countries and the EU. “Progress on that journey and the speed of EU integration depend on fulfilling the criteria and implementing reforms. Croatia will continue to offer assistance to SEECP member states along that challenging road,” Pejčinović Burić said, adding that Croatia’s Council of the EU chairmanship in 2020 would have enlargement as a priority.

During her visit to Banja Luka, Pejčinović Burić met with Bishop Franjo Komarica, with whom she talked about the status of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, notably Croats in Republika Srpska, as well as the Croatian Government’s assistance and the activities of the Banja Luka diocese.
