(Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Miro Kovač wrapped up Monday's visit to Jerusalem by visiting the Yad Vashem memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

According to Yad Vashem's data, Croatia had 39,000 Jews before World War II, of whom 30,000 were killed. Also, 113 Croats have been the awarded Righteous Among the Nations status.

I'm trying to find the words to express how deeply I feel the suffering of the people that is guarded in this place, Kovač wrote after visiting the museum. "In memory of all the victims of the Holocaust, Yad Vashem sends a message of suffering, but also of survival, and calls on us never to forget that," he wrote.

One of the survivors is Croatian film producer Branko Lustig, who gave Yad Vashem on Croatia's behalf the Oscar he won for "Schindler's List".
