Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miro Kovač sent a letter of sympathy to his counterpart, Israeli Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the death of former Israeli president and prime minister Shimon Peres.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and myself, I would like to express to you and the entire Israeli nation deepest condolences and sympathy over the death of former president Shimon Peres. Peres was a world-class statesman, one of the founders of the Israeli state and winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace. He will be remembered as one of the main architects of the Oslo peace agreement, as a man who had a key role in the struggle for peace and security in his homeland and the wider Middle East. His life’s work will live on, among other things, through the Peres Centre for Peace. In these moments of grief, please accept, Your Excellency, my sincerest condolences.”
