FM attends 35th Congress of Local and Regional Authorities

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 7 November 2018 attended the 35th session of the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Strasbourg

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 7 November 2018 attended the 35th session of the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Strasbourg.

In her capacity as chair of the Council’s Committee of Ministers, Pejčinović Burić spoke about the Committee’s activities and the implementation of the priorities of Croatia’s chairmanship. She addressed Europe’s main present-day challenges, notably terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking and illegal migration. She underscored the importance of a multilateral approach in dealing with these challenges and answered questions by members of the Congress.

Pejčinović Burić held bilateral talks with the Congress’ newly-elected president, Anders Knape. The two officials discussed the Congress’ activities and the strengthening of cooperation between the Council’s bodies.
