Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman received on farewell visit Irish Ambassador to Croatia Olive Hempenstall.

The two officials reflected on Croatia’s EU presidency, Brexit and its effects on Ireland, EU enlargement onto the Western Balkans and talks on the COVID-19 recovery fund. They expressed satisfaction with the intensification of bilateral relations, notably through the networking of the two countries’ diplomacies during Croatian and Maltese presidencies by seconding an Irish diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, as well as through the two diplomacies’ cooperation in La Valletta. In addition, the two officials underscored desire for the strengthening of economic and cultural cooperation.

Grlić Radman congratulated Ireland on its non-permanent UN Security Council membership and reflected on the important role of Ireland’s Croats, who contribute to the two countries’ economic relations. Hempenstall stressed that Ireland would continue the existing policy on Brexit.
