Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman talked over the phone with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
The two ministers exchanged views on the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the global economy. Grlić Radman thanked Japan for its donation of experimental drug Avigan, which might help with clinical testing, and for donations following the Zagreb earthquake. In addition, he invited Motegi to visit Croatia as soon as the conditions allow.
Motegi applauded Croatia’s EU presidency. Both ministers underscored the importance of intensifying the EU-Japan cooperation. Apart from bilateral cooperation, Grlić Radman and Motegi also discussed the Western Balkans, expressing support for EU enlargement and launching accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia as soon as possible. Finally, the two ministers underscored desire for a diversification of economic cooperation and political dialogue on regional and global matters.
