EXPO Zaragoza 2008 opened 13 June 2008

Friday 13 June saw the ceremonial opening of world fair EXPO Zaragoza 2008. The fair was opened by the Spanish king and queen, with the presence of other members of the royal family, Spanish prime minister and other members of the Government, Parliament representatives, the representatives of all Spanish regions, as well as the Parliament and Government of Aragon County and the city of Zaragoza, and other members of Spain’s political, public, and cultural life

Friday 13 June saw the ceremonial opening of world fair EXPO Zaragoza 2008. The fair was opened by the Spanish king and queen, with the presence of other members of the royal family, Spanish prime minister and other members of the Government, Parliament representatives, the representatives of all Spanish regions, as well as the Parliament and Government of Aragon County and the city of Zaragoza, and other members of Spain’s political, public, and cultural life. The opening also saw the presence of Portuguese and Mexican presidents, prime ministers of Andorra and Morocco, president of the European Commission, 106 national commissioners of the participating countries, and the diplomatic corps accredited to Madrid.

After the official ceremony, a rich cultural program was held for the 2500 invitees. The Republic of Croatia was represented by State Secretary and Chairman of the National Committee Željko Kuprešak, National Commissioner Ivica Maričić, and Ambassador to Spain Filip Vučak.

EXPO Zaragoza 2008, entitled “Water and Sustainable Development”, is the fourth world fair that sees Croatia’s participation. The Croatian pavilion opened its doors 14 June along with the other 106 pavilions. Croatia appeared with the project “A Drop of Water – a Grain of Salt” by Damir Fabijanić, Dalibor Martinis, and 3LHD Studio.
