Diplomatic Academy organised lecture by European Parliament MP Enrique Baron Crespo entitled “EU and Lisbon Treaty”

The Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Union organised a lecture for the attendees of the 11th One-Year Professional Diplomatic Study by the European Parliament’s MP Enrique Baron Crespo, entitled “The European Union and the Lisbon Treaty”

MP Crespo, who in the past has held the highest duty of the European Parliament’s president, was introduced by Director of the Diplomatic Academy Mladen Andrlić, recalling the distinguished guest’s contribution the Croatia’s positioning within the European setting.

The lecture was held as a part of the International Relations and Policy Course and, apart from covering a series of theoretical facts about the development of the European Communities and the founding treaties, dealt with the current events regarding the recently-signed Treaty of Lisbon, which opened an instructional way to further EU enlargement, as well as with Croatia’s accession to full EU membership. The European openness, as well as the esteemed expert’s precise explanations, met with an exceptional response from more than 40 attendees of the Professional Diplomatic Study, mostly young diplomats and a few employees of other state bodies.

The visiting lecture by MP Crespo, along with the presence of Spanish Ambassador to Croatia Manuel Salazar, further confirms the Diplomatic Academy’s orientation towards international co-operation with a wide network of world-renowned lecturers.
