The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of the bilateral relations, which they described as very good and friendly.

Minister Jandroković informed Senate President van der Linden about the current status of Croatia’s EU negotiations and the plan to close them by the end of Hungary’s presidency, asking for the Dutch side’s support during the final stages of the negotiations.

He pointed out that Croatia was carrying on with the implementation of structural reforms in order to adapt to the Union’s standards, as well as to develop the domestic economy and society as a whole. Special attention is being paid to the judicial and public administration reform, fighting corruption, cooperation with the ICTY, and shipbuilding restructuring.

The meeting also discussed the pending visit by Senate President van der Linden to Croatia, which will surely contribute to the further intensification of the two countries’ parliaments, for which there is mutual interest.

Senate President van der Linden said he was well-familiar with Croatia’s progress since its gaining of independence and emphasized his friendly attitude towards Croatia.

The collocutors also discussed the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, with Minister Jandroković conveying Croatia’s position on the current events in the region.
