The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations, as well as the intensive level of meetings between the two countries’ high officials during the past period. They agreed that the intensified contacts and the overall strengthening of mutual relations were in large part the result of the precious year’s signing of the Croatia-France Strategic Partnership Agreement.

Minister Jandroković thanked France for its support during Croatia’s EU accession negotiations and its partnership cooperation. He expressed satisfaction over the joint visit by parliamentary committees of the French National Assembly and German Bundestag in January this year, as well as the positive reports and conclusions from the visit.

In regard to the status of Croatia’s negotiation process, which has entered its final phase, Minister Jandroković said that in light of all the measures and reforms that the Croatian government had undertaken, as well as the news coming from Brussels these day, the negotiations were expected to be over by the end of the month.

Recapping the course of the negotiations, the minister said that Croatia had proven its dedication to meeting the criteria and would continue to work hard during the ratification of the Accession Treaty, as well as after becoming a full-fledged member.

Chairman Lequiller pointed out that France would support the conclusion of Croatia’s negotiations by end-June.

Discussing the current events in the countries of South Eastern Europe, the collocutors agreed that Croatia’s joining the EU would be a powerful motivation for the rest of the countries in the region to conduct the necessary reforms aimed at their Euro-integration. They expressed satisfaction at that over Croatia and France’s cooperation in stabilizing the situation in the region.
