Deputy Minister Joško Klisović opened 30 April in Almaty the first consulate of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Kazakhstan

Deputy Minister Joško Klisović opened 30 April in Almaty the first consulate of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The consulate covering the Almaty region will be headed by honorary consul Yerkin Israilov, a distinguished Kazakh businessman and one of the top officials at the Nursultan Nazarbayev Educational Foundation.

The opening of the consulate was attended by representatives of Kazakh state institutions, the diplomatic-consular corps and the small local Croatian community. Klisović said that the opening of the consulate was an important first step in testifying Croatia’s diplomatic presence in Kazakhstan. It is also a logical progression of the increasingly advanced relations between the two countries as well as the growing interest among Croatian businessmen to venture onto this exploding market. Also planned is the strengthening of relations with Kazakhstan as an important partner in Central Asia, in which an important role is to be played by the newly-opened consulate in Almaty as well.
