On Wednesday, 15 November, Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović received the new U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Herbert Merten in the inaugural visit. Ambassador Merten stressed that Croatia can be proud of the progress it has achieved in the recent years, which will lead to its admission to the European Union on 1 July 2013. At the meeting, excellent relations and successful cooperation between the two countries were confirmed for a number of areas, particularly in the joint contribution to peace and stability in Southeast Europe and Afghanistan. Deputy Foreign Minister Klisović and Ambassador Merten exchanged views on numerous current foreign policy issues, with the emphasis on the steps the Government is taking to improve the investment climate and attract foreign investment.
