Deputy FM Klisović meets French MFA State Secretary Désir

Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović met with Harlem Désir, State Secretary for European Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, who was on a one-day visit to Croatia

Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović met with Harlem Désir, State Secretary for European Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, who was on a one-day visit to Croatia. The two officials discussed bilateral and economic relations as well as the enlargement process and migration policy.

Given that Rendez-vous French culture festival is being held in Croatia from May to September, Désir expressed satisfaction he had the opportunity to mark the French National Day precisely in the Jelačić Square, where a French dance performance was taking place. He underscored that the festival was a testament to successful cooperation and excellent bilateral relations.

Klisović and Désir were satisfied with the good economic relations, as evidenced by an increase in French investments in Croatia and growth of Croatia’s export to France, stressing the need for their advancement in energy, infrastructure and car industry. Klisović thanked France for its support in listing the restrictions on Croatian workers’ freedom of movement within the EU.

Talking about the migration policy, the two officials underlined the importance of solidarity among the member states, efficient protection of the outer border as well as implementation of the joint migration policy and decisions. In regard to the enlargement process, Klisović stressed the importance of the EU’s continued engagement in Southeast Europe.
