Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović attended a regional conference on “Energy Security of Central and Southeast Europe”, held 19 March 2015 in Budapest

Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović attended a regional conference on “Energy Security of Central and Southeast Europe”, held 19 March 2015 in Budapest and organized by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade. The conference gathered representatives from 19 countries of Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, the European External Action Service and the European Commission. Along with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjárto, the conference was opened by Amos J. Hochstein, the Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

The topics of the conference included current issues in energy security of this part of Europe, prospects of gas source and route diversification, building new and upgrading the existing infrastructure.

As Croatia’s contribution to the energy security of this part of Europe and beyond, Klisović outlined the projects being developed in Croatia: the Krk LNG terminal, carbohydrate research and the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline. Klisović underlined that Croatia placed great importance on regional cooperation in the development of its energy projects, which is an important factor for a better networking of infrastructure and energy markets of the EU and its immediate neighbourhood.

The participants stressed Croatia’s importance on Europe’s energy map, highlighting the Krk LNG terminal.
