Croatian MFAEI sent protest note to MFA of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia sent a protest note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina over the bomb attack on the returnee family Lekavski’s house in Gradac, the Republika Srpska entity, that took place on 8 November 2008

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration condemns that act, which caused fear and unease among the returnees, points out the possible consequences on the return process as a whole, and draws attention to the obligation of protecting the returnees and their property by the relevant bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with the Agreement on Return and a mutual wish to enable the return of all those who wish to do so.

The Ministry asked for complete information about the act, a swift finding of the perpetrators, and their brining to justice, as well as for the damage compensation to the family.

Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Croatia Aleksandar Dragičević expressed regret over the act, emphasizing that the relevant bodies of Republika Srpska have taken the necessary steps to find the perpetrators of this heinous act and bring them to justice.
