Croatian Embassy to Jakarta sent another harsh protest to Indonesian MFA

The Croatian Embassy to Jakarta sent today, 24 August 2005, a strong protest to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the Indonesian Navy’s request for captain of the Croatian ship Mirna, seized in the Surabaya port of Tanjung Perak, to move it to the navy base

It is stated in the protest that the ship in the Surabaya port of Tanjung Perak for almost 12 months now, and its relocation from the city port would only mean hiding it from the public and the media, and could endanger the safety and lives of the crew.

The Embassy asked of the Indonesian MFA a guarantee that the ship’s crew will safely leave the ship for medical and private purposes, to allow the employees of the Embassy to come onboard unobstructed, and ensure a food and water supply for the crew.

The Embassy points out that as early as November 2004, the Indonesian Navy unloaded all the cargo off Mirna and transferred it to a military warehouse, so there is no danger of damaging or losing the evidence onboard.
