Croatian Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic Neven Madey handed his credentials 17 October 2005 in Tbilisi to Georgian President Mihail Saakashvili, thereby officially assuming the duty of the Croatian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia

President Saakashvili congratulated Croatia on opening negotiations with the EU, concluding that Georgia can learn a lot from Croatia, since it too leans towards joining the Euro-Atlantic integration.

In separate talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantine Kavtaradze and Head of the Georgian parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantine Gavashvili, both sides expressed interest in enhancing the bilateral relations and setting up a legal basis for economic and cultural co-operation. Political consultations and exchange visits of the parliamentary delegations were also arranged.
