Croatia withdraws application to host EMA

The Republic of Croatia has decided to withdraw its application to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA)

The Republic of Croatia has decided to withdraw its application to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The decision was made following our assessment of the procedure that preceded the decision to relocating the EMA from London. We believe that all the criteria were not evaluated in the same way and the procedure was exposed to suggestive remarks by the EMA itself.

The Republic of Croatia has, however, gained valuable experience in the process regarding future bids to host EU agencies and bodies.

We believe that all future decisions should be based on the principle of equality among the EU member states, which primarily includes an equal distribution of the head offices of EU agencies and bodies.
