Croatia to not participate in marking of Durban Declaration

On the margins of UN General Assembly’s General Debate in September, a meeting will be held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.

Given the significant deviation from the initial goals of the founders of Durban I, which are the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance, Croatia has joined the growing number of countries that will not take part in this year’s commemoration.

In the past years, said conference has been increasingly promoting rather than combating intolerance, racism and antisemitism, therefore Croatia is stepping down from the platform.

At the same time, Croatia remains committed to the fight against racism in all its shapes and forms.
