Croatia to donate 450,000 vaccine doses through COVAX

At today’s session, the Croatian government adopted a decision to donate COVID-19 vaccines to the countries most in need by COVAX estimates.

“Prompted by desire to show global solidarity, Croatia has decided to donate additional 450,000 doses of vaccine through COVAX, supporting the effective and fair approach to vaccine distribution,” said Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman.

By donating vaccine through COVAX, he added, the international community is showing that it is focused on the countries most in need, advocating at the same time the humanitarian principles that Croatia is consistently implementing through its own policies of development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

The decision tasks the Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health with preparing the donation and making agreements in line with COVAX guidelines, while the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs is tasked with coordinating said activities.

The finances for the implementation of this decision have been allocated from Croatia’s state budget.
