Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić 29 November 2012 received on inaugural visit Canadian Ambassador Louise LaRocque. The two officials expressed satisfaction with the friendly relations between Croatia and Canada, with LaRocque confident that Croatia’s EU membership would strengthen the two countries’ economic relations.

Pusić informed her about the efforts to improve the investment climate in Croatia. Both sides voiced satisfaction with the implementation of the Youth Mobility Memorandum from May 2011, allowing young Croatians a legal stay of up to a year and gaining of work experience in Canada and vice versa.

The minister said there were problems in the region, but that none were unsolvable. She stressed that Croatia’s active role and support to its neighbours also involved the transfer of knowhow and experience gained during the EU and NATO integration, as well as in advocating NATO accession of the rest of aspiring countries from the region.
