Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Monday received the official visit from Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ranko Krivokapić.

In the spirit of good-neighbourly and friendly relations, the two ministers discussed the additional strengthening of bilateral ties and multilateral cooperation.

“Croatia fully supports Montenegro’s EU journey and will continue to provide it with expert and technical assistance,” Grlić Radman underscored, adding that enlargement had to remain high on the EU’s agenda to prevent possible spillover from the conflict in Ukraine and deterioration of the situation in the Western Balkans.

The minister also underlined the importance of global support for Ukraine in order to uphold democratic values and the international order that respects the territorial integrity of sovereign UN member states.

As a special link, Grlić Radman highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Boka Croats, which Croatia and Montenegro will continue to nurture jointly. “We are pleased that Montenegrin Croats contribute to Montenegro’s progress by participating in government bodies, as well as through the activities of the Croatian National Council and the Croatian Civic Initiative,” he underlined.

After the bilateral talks in Zagreb, Grlić Radman and Krivokapić, together with defence ministers of Croatia and Montenegro, will unveil a plaque on Monday on the island of Vis commemorating Montenegrin admiral Vladimir Barović, who refused to take part in the Greater Serbian aggression of 1991, thus behoving the two countries to preserve peace and mutual respect.
