The 7th meeting of the Croatia-Baden-Württemberg Commission was held 8 March 2013, co-chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister Hrvoje Marušić and Baden-Württemberg’s Minister for the Bundesrat, Europe and International Affairs Peter Friedrich. Marušić expressed gratitude for the excellent cooperation and support that Friedrich and his colleagues had been continually showing Croatia, which for years has been successfully cooperating with Baden-Württemberg in various areas.

The meeting focused on economy, tourism, science, education, culture, home affairs, agriculture, environmental protection and water management. It was concluded that Croatia and Baden-Württemberg are to strengthen their cooperation within the EU institutions and policies as well. Through the Transition Council - Centre of Excellence, founded within the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Croatia and Baden-Württemberg plan to assist via joint activities and project the countries in the region along their European path, with the aim of strengthening their institutional and administrative capacities.

Both sides expressed interest in further intensifying cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, in which they are coordinating and promoting competitiveness of small and medium businesses. Croatia, like Baden-Württemberg, is oriented towards economic growth and opening jobs, and welcomes Baden-Württemberg’s willingness to transfer the know-how in using renewable energy sources and clean technologies.

Friedrich and Marušić signed a protocol on cooperation for the coming period.

The next meeting of the Croatia-Baden-Württemberg Commission is scheduled for 2015 in Baden-Württemberg.
