Conference Learning about EU – Continuous Training in EU Matters

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, in co-operation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the UK Embassy to Croatia, organised for the fourth time in a row the conference Learning about the EU, held 13 and 14 October 2006 in Brijuni

The conference was opened on 13 October 2006 by State Secretary for European Integration Marija Pejčinović Burić. In her speech, State Secretary Pejčinović Burić noted that the exchange of information on the issues regarding the process of Croatia’s EU accession is extremely important in the pre-accession period, hence the conference Learning about the EU, whose goal is precisely to strengthen the administrative capabilities as one of the membership criteria.

This year’s conference was entitled Continuous Training in EU Matters and focused on topics such as training in fields related to the EU before and after gaining membership, communication strategy for informing the public about the European integration, and regional networking in education about the European integration as a support to the national public administration institutions.

This years’ Learning about the EU conference featured 90 participants from 21 countries, as well as the representatives of the EU Delegation in Croatia. The participants include the representatives of local and state administration, national institutes and offices for public administration, institutions for education of civil servants, private organisations, non-governmental organisations involved in education about the European integration, and all those interested in the role and importance of training in the EU matters.
